Influence of Chinese traditional costume in the world

Nowadays, there are numerous social media platforms and the internet is rapidly developing. The traditional Chinese dress culture is being spread to every corner of the world. More people have access to traditional Chinese clothing and are using some of the traditional Chinese culture and clothing elements in the design of their clothes.

Many international brands are injecting Chinese-style elements into their designs. The fashion industry seems to have realised the contribution of Chinese dress to Western fashion design. In some cases, Asian symbols are used to adorn garments that aspire to achieve an oriental look. Some designers also believe that Chinese-style dresses are not fashion objects that last for a season but rather should have a continuous presence in the fashion industry. It seems that traditional Chinese culture is willingly incorporated by fashion designers to create unique collections.

In academic circles, the positioning of Chinese dress as fashion remains unclear. Different voices are presented, with each concept having its own advocates and detractors. With the cheongsam being shown in Western fashion shows, it seems inappropriate to deny the possibility of calling Chinese clothing fashionable.

Some scholars have argued for a change in Western views and research attitudes towards the application of the term "fashion" itself, and that more research on the history of Chinese dress should be made available in English. China's national intangible cultural heritage list has promoted a range of textile methods with Chinese characteristics, as well as embroidery patterns, and has added to them the unique craft of making traditional Chinese clothing. These cultural symbols represent the richness of Chinese culture, which has led to the development of many textile styles and designs with regional characteristics.

All in all, the influence of traditional Chinese dress culture is evident in the discovery of alternative ways of creating fashion, and China is striving to present its unique charms to the world and change the stereotypical image of traditional Chinese culture in some media.
